We often talk about Jesus as “with us,” but Scripture takes it further. He is in us.

Paul writes in Colossians 1:27:

“Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

This is not poetic exaggeration. It’s literal spiritual reality.
The Creator of galaxies has made His home inside of you.

When Jesus walked the dusty roads of Galilee, He physically touched the untouchable, lepers, bleeding women, outcasts. He got close enough for them to feel His warmth, smell the scent of a carpenter’s hands, see the kindness in His eyes. But what blows my mind is that this nearness didn’t end with the Ascension. He didn’t just say, “Well, I’m leaving now, see you in heaven!” He promised something far greater: “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” (John 14:18)

And then He sent His Spirit, not to visit occasionally like a relative with good timing, but to indwell, to move in permanently.

Think about this:
When you are driving, He is nearer than the wheel in your hands. When you lie awake at night, He is closer than the blanket on your skin.
When you feel abandoned, He is closer than the breath you just took. You don’t have to fight through heaven’s bureaucracy to get to Him.
He is already here.

Psalm 145:18 says: “The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.”

I’ve had moments when I’ve known this truth not just in my head but in my bones.
Like the morning I sat on the floor with tears sliding down my cheeks, too tired to pray properly, when suddenly the room felt heavy with His presence, no words, just knowing: I am here.

Or the time I stood watching the sun melt over the horizon in Namibia, the colours dripping across the sky, and I could almost hear Him whisper: I’m right here, enjoying this with you.

When the nearness of Jesus becomes real to you, everything changes. You stop performing for Him and start walking with Him. You stop begging for Him to come and start recognizing that He never left.

James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”But here’s the holy paradox: the moment you take a step toward Him, you discover He was already closer than you thought possible.

Let this truth undo you
The same Jesus who calmed storms and raised the dead is the same Jesus breathing life into you right now.
You are never alone. Not for one heartbeat.
