The Goodness of God

There’s a song that has carried me through both storms and sunshine: “The Goodness of God.” It declares, “All my life You have been faithful. All my life You have been so, so good…”

It’s one thing to sing those words. It’s another thing when they become your reality. Something changes when you really meet Jesus. Not religion. Not church as routine. But Him. The living Christ. The One who walks into your brokenness and whispers, “You are My son. You are My daughter. And I am well pleased with you.”

It’s a revelation that doesn’t come from sermons alone, or from trying harder to be “good.” It comes when your spirit is awakened by the Holy Spirit through the Word of God. When you read the Bible and it suddenly isn’t ink on a page, it’s bread for your soul. It’s water for your thirsty heart.

David said: “Taste and see that the Lord is good” (Psalm 34:8). That’s not poetry. That’s reality. Jesus is the sweetest taste and the most beautiful face.

When His Spirit activates your spirit, you begin to know right from wrong, not because of rules, but because of relationship. Something inside you shifts. Suddenly, you don’t just avoid sin because you’re afraid of consequences , you avoid it because you love Him too much to grieve His heart.

Holiness becomes your desire. Obedience becomes your joy. You want to please Him. And in that moment, when you feel the Father’s voice echo over you … “This is My son. This is My daughter, in whom I am well pleased” (Mat 3:17) everything else fades.

You don’t have to have it all together for this to be true. His goodness doesn’t wait for you to be perfect. It runs after you right where you are. Even in your darkest night. Even in your mess. Even in your shame.

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life…” (Psalm 23:6). That means His goodness is relentless. His mercy is on your trail.

So here’s my prayer for you:
That you would not just read about Him, but taste Him.
That you would not just hear sermons, but hear His voice.
That you would not just sing about His goodness, but live in it.

Because once you taste the real Jesus, you’ll want more and more. He ruins you for the ordinary. He awakens a hunger you never want to satisfy, because every moment with Him only makes you want the next.

My beloved friend, no matter how messed up you are, Jesus is still inviting you closer. He’s not put off by your scars, your secrets, or your sin. He’s the Good Shepherd who runs after you with mercy and wraps you in His goodness.

So taste and see. Open your Bible. Whisper His name. Let Him be the sweetest taste on your lips and the most beautiful face before your eyes. Because at the end of it all, it’s His goodness that will carry you home.

About Me

HELLO THERE!

Hi, I’m Vicky Ludick. Wife to Matt, mama to seven, pastor, author, businesswoman, and a woman deeply in love with Jesus.

My husband and I lead Grace Family Church, and alongside ministry I run Elevate Namibia. I hold a Bachelor of Theology, but much of what you’ll read here was learned far beyond a classroom, through faith, failure, restoration, motherhood, marriage, surrender, and the relentless grace of God. I have been fortunate enough to study some Law too, so you can almost imagine me wanting to fight, and be peaceful at the same time! But this blog is not for that…

This blog is where I write honestly about Jesus and real life. I write about exercise and being a blended Family. I write about Theological topics and I write about the beautiful parts, the broken parts, and everything God teaches us in between.

If you’ve ever wondered whether God can still use an imperfect story, you’re in the right place.

Welcome to my blog! ❤️
