Have you ever sat with the overwhelming thought: God actually knows me? Not just in the way a stranger might know your name or a friend might know your birthday, but in the most profound, intimate way possible.

The Hebrew word yada (יָדַע) is sprinkled throughout Scripture, and it means far more than “to know.” It’s not just head knowledge, it’s deep, personal, experiential knowing. It’s the kind of knowing that comes from relationship, connection, and closeness.

“O Lord, You have searched me and known me (yada). You know when I sit and when I rise; You perceive my thoughts from afar.” (Psa 139:1–2)

God doesn’t just know facts about you, He knows you.
Every sigh. Every longing. Every fear. Every unspoken prayer.

When Paul writes in Galatians 4:9, “But now that you know God, or rather are known by God…”he’s pointing to something powerful: our greatest joy is not just in knowing God, but in the wonder that He knows us.

This kind of knowing isn’t cold or clinical. It’s warm. It’s relational. It’s the same word used to describe the deepest closeness between husband and wife. God’s yada toward us speaks of a covenant love that chooses us, delights in us, and never lets us go.

This is where the beauty of grace explodes in our hearts.
The One who flung stars into space knows your name.
The One who paints sunsets and commands oceans sees your tears. The One who is holy beyond comprehension still chooses you. And here’s the breathtaking truth:
He doesn’t just tolerate you. He delights in you.

“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” (Zep 3:17)

From the beginning of creation, God walked with Adam and Eve in the cool of the day. He didn’t design humanity for distant religion but for deep relationship. Through Jesus, the barrier of sin was torn down so that nothing could stand between us and God again. The veil was torn. The Father says, “I want you to know Me, and I want you to know that I know you.”

When you live in the reality of being known by God, shame loses its power. You don’t have to perform for His approval or hide from His presence. Instead, you can say like David:
“Search me, God, and know (yada) my heart… Lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psa 139:23–24)

To be known by God is to be fully seen, fully understood, and still fully loved.

Maybe today, you just need to whisper:

“Lord, thank You for knowing me. Thank You for wanting me. Help me to walk in the freedom of being fully loved by You.”

Because a God like that, loving a child like you? That’s not just mercy. That’s wonder. What if intimacy with God wasn’t about striving, but simply about showing up, knowing you’re already loved?
