Monday Mayhem Madness

Saturday my family and I went for a walk. Just a simple walk. Nothing extraordinary, no major plans, just being outside, under the open sky. And yet, somewhere between the breeze brushing my face and the crunch of gravel under my feet, something inside me exhaled. You know that feeling? That whisper to your soul that says, you were made for this.

I’ve always felt closer to God when I’m outside. Maybe it’s because that’s where He first walked with Adam. Maybe it’s because creation still carries the echo of His voice. Or maybe it’s because that’s where I stop striving and finally start being.

And that’s what’s been stirring in me lately, this idea of our design. Our hardwiring, if you will.

Scripture tells us something wild:

“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by Your will they were created and have their being.” (Rev 4:11)

Another translation says “for Your pleasure they were created.”

Boom.

Let that sink in for a moment.

You were created for His pleasure.

God, the *Creator* of the galaxies, the architect of DNA, the One who tells the oceans where to stop, sat down with Jesus and the Holy Spirit and decided on you. And it brought Him joy. Delight. Pleasure.

I have a friend I’ve known for years. She’s one of those rare people who feels like home. Every time we see each other, she makes this weird little sound, then bursts into laughter that is so unique, so her, that it instantly softens my mood and curls my toes with joy. It’s silly, it’s warm, it’s pleasurable.

And I imagine that’s how God feels about you. Not some distant approval. Not tolerating you. But genuine pleasure, the kind that makes Him throw His head back and laugh in delight when He thinks of you.

The Psalms say:

“The Lord takes pleasure in His people.” (Psalm 149:4)

“Let my prayer be set before You as incense, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.” (Psalm 141:2)

You’re not just seen. You’re enjoyed.

So here’s the question I’m carrying into this wild new week:

Am I living a life that Jesus has pleasure in?

Not busy, not perfect, not productive, but a life that brings Him joy?

Because you and I, we’re not human doings. We’re human beings. And sometimes, the most spiritual, obedient, joyful thing you can do is just be.

So before you jump into the chaos of Monday, pause.

Sit.

Breathe.

Let Him show you what He sees when He looks at you.

Let Him whisper your name.

Let Him smile.

Maybe your “being” looks like a slow walk. Or sitting by a fire. Or letting the kids make a mess in the kitchen while you soak in the smell of cinnamon and life.

Whatever it is, may this week be filled with moments you actually see.

Lift your face toward heaven.

Smile.

Because He is definitely smiling at you.

Love V
